2026 Tony Awards: Death of a Salesman Leads as Schmigadoon! Takes Best Musical — Full Winners List

The 2026 Tony Awards winners have been crowned, capping off Broadway’s biggest night with major triumphs, a few historic firsts, and a tightly contested race among several standout productions. Hosted by P!NK at Radio City Music Hall, the 79th Annual Tony Awards delivered memorable moments across both plays and musicals.

Death of a Salesman Dominates the Night

The evening’s biggest winner was Death of a Salesman, which took home an impressive six Tony Awards in total. Among its haul was Best Revival of a Play, cementing its status as the standout production of the ceremony. Arthur Miller’s classic also picked up wins for direction, featured acting, and several design categories.

A Historic Best Play Win

In the Best Play category, Bess Wohl’s Liberation claimed the prize. The victory carried added significance, making Wohl only the fourth female playwright in Tony Awards history to win the award — a noteworthy milestone for the honor.

A Three-Way Tie Among Musicals

The musical categories produced one of the night’s most intriguing storylines, with three productions — Ragtime, The Lost Boys, and Schmigadoon! — each tying with four wins apiece.

  • Schmigadoon! took the top honor, winning Best Musical, along with awards for its score, book, and orchestrations.
  • Ragtime earned Best Revival of a Musical, and its lead performers had a standout evening (more on that below).
  • The Lost Boys picked up several technical and acting awards, including featured performances and design honors.

Ragtime’s Rare Acting Sweep

Ragtime stars Caissie Levy and Joshua Henry made history of their own. Levy won Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, while Henry took Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. Remarkably, this marked the first time in 28 years that a musical revival claimed both lead musical acting categories.

Cats: The Jellicle Ball Makes History

Cats: The Jellicle Ball secured three wins, headlined by a groundbreaking moment: costume designer Qween Jean made history as the first openly transgender Tony Award winner. The production also won Best Direction of a Musical for Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, and Best Choreography for Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons.
