Euphoria Is Back — And Season 3’s New Trailer Is Everything Fans Have Been Waiting For

It’s been years since Euphoria last graced our screens, and the wait has been equal parts agonizing and heartbreaking for reasons that go far beyond storylines. But HBO has finally dropped a brand-new Season 3 trailer, and it’s clear that the show is returning with more emotional weight, more chaos, and more raw storytelling than ever before. Grab your tissues — this one hits differently.

Sharon Stone Steps Into the Spotlight

One of the most buzzed-about additions to the Season 3 cast is none other than Hollywood icon Sharon Stone, and the trailer gives us our first proper glimpse of her character — a Warner Bros. studio executive who appears to be taking young Lexi (Maude Apatow) under her wing. In what looks like a pivotal moment for Lexi’s character, Stone’s executive tells her warmly that the network loved her storyline, to which an awestruck Lexi can barely contain her excitement. It’s a small scene, but it signals a fascinating new chapter for one of the show’s most underrated characters.

A Bittersweet Return: Eric Dane’s Final On-Screen Role

Perhaps the most emotionally loaded moment in the trailer is the return of Cal Jacobs — Nate’s complicated, deeply flawed father — played by the late Eric Dane. Dane, who passed away in February 2026 at age 53 after a courageous battle with ALS, appears here in one of his final performances on screen. In the trailer, Cal runs into his former flame Jules at a bar, where she asks him pointedly, “Remember me?” His response — “How could I forget?” — carries a quiet weight that feels all the more poignant knowing what we know now. It’s a moment fans will not take lightly.

Rue Is in Deeper Trouble Than Ever

If you thought Rue had hit rock bottom before, Season 3 suggests she’s found a whole new basement. The trailer reveals that she has been trafficking drugs for a Mexican cartel — and she gets caught. Zendaya, who won an Emmy for her portrayal of the endlessly compelling Rue, looks set to deliver yet another gut-wrenching performance as her character faces consequences more serious than anything she’s encountered before. We also hear Rue issue a chilling warning to Laurie: “Alamo tried to kill me… and he’s gonna do the same to you.” Dark doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Nate and Cassie’s Wedding — and Maddy’s Dramatic Return

Season 3 appears to lean fully into the chaos of young adulthood. We get a closer look at Nate and Cassie’s wedding, which — knowing this show — is unlikely to go smoothly. Meanwhile, Maddy (Alexa Demie) makes a dramatic reappearance in Cassie’s life, seemingly stepping in to help her produce some rather questionable content. Classic Maddy. The dynamic between these two has always been one of the show’s most electric, and it looks like Season 3 is ready to turn up the heat once more.

Unexpected Faces: Marshawn Lynch and a Hospital Bed Moment

The trailer is packed with surprises. NFL legend Marshawn Lynch shows up in an unexpected role as a gun-toting henchman — because why not? And in a moment that will leave fans deeply unsettled, we catch a glimpse of Ali lying in a hospital bed, raising urgent questions about what has happened to one of the show’s most beloved and grounding characters.

A Time Jump, a Fresh Chapter, and a Heavier Theme

Season 3 marks a significant shift for the show — jumping several years forward from where Season 2 left off back in February 2022. The characters have graduated high school and are now navigating the messier, more complicated terrain of young adulthood. According to HBO’s official description, this season sees a group of childhood friends wrestling with “the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil.” Heavy themes, but exactly the kind of territory Euphoria has always been unafraid to explore. Sam Levinson returns as writer, director, and showrunner, steering the ship once again.

Remembering Those We Lost

Season 3 arrives carrying grief that extends well beyond the fictional world of East Highland. Angus Cloud, who brought the beloved Fez to life in the first two seasons, passed away in July 2023 at just 25 years old — a loss that shook both the cast and the show’s devoted fanbase to the core. And now, with Eric Dane’s passing earlier this year, the premiere carries an added layer of sorrow. Watching these final performances will be a reminder of just how much these actors gave to this story.

When Can You Watch It?

Euphoria Season 3 premieres Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. on HBO. The core cast returns in full force — Zendaya as Rue, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie, Jacob Elordi as Nate, Hunter Schafer as Jules, Alexa Demie as Maddy, and Maude Apatow as Lexi. If the trailer is anything to go by, this season is going to be an emotional, chaotic, and deeply human ride. Don’t miss it.
