The 2026 Summer Xbox Games Showcase has wrapped up, delivering a packed hour of announcements, exclusive reveals, gameplay trailers, and updates. Coming amid a busy week of Summer Game Fest events, the show gave fans plenty to be excited about — from the long-awaited Gears of War: E-Day to the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise and everything in between.

If you missed the broadcast or just want a clean rundown, here’s a recap of the biggest games shown, presented in the order they appeared.

Gears of War: E-Day

One of the headliners of the show, Gears of War: E-Day, finally got nailed-down details.

  • Release date: October 6, 2026
  • Platforms: Despite earlier talk of a PlayStation 5 release, the game is launching as an Xbox Series X/S console exclusive — though it will arrive on PC on day one as well.
  • Story: Set 14 years before the original Gears of War, players take control of Marcus Fenix and other members of the new Bravo Squad as they confront the chaos and devastation of the Locusts’ Emergence Day.
  • Performance: The campaign targets 4K at 60 FPS with hardware-based ray-tracing, while multiplayer pushes up to 120 FPS.

Fable

The reboot of the beloved Fable series resurfaced with fresh footage and some exciting casting news.

  • Release date: February 23, 2027 (newly announced)
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC
  • Highlights: The new footage revealed the game’s villain, Isabel, Hero of Wraithmarsh — and yes, she’s played by Hayley Atwell. On top of that, Jack of Blades, the antagonist from the first Fable, appears to be making a return. New gameplay was shown alongside the reveal.

Halo: Campaign Evolved

Master Chief is back, and this remake-style release now has a firm launch window.

  • Release date: July 28, 2026
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC
  • What’s new: The showcase featured gameplay from a prequel mission called Operation: METEORITE — a three-mission story arc set before Halo: Combat Evolved that follows Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Details were also shared for the base and premium editions, which include Master Chief skins, weapon skins, and more.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

The acclaimed Plague Tale series continues with a new, more action-focused chapter.

  • Release date: August 27, 2026
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC
  • Story: Players take control of Sophia, the buccaneer introduced in A Plague Tale: Requiem, in this prequel adventure. A new gameplay trailer accompanied the announcement.

Persona 4 Revival

Fans of the iconic JRPG got their first real look at this revival.

  • Release date: February 27, 2026
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC
  • Highlights: The showcase delivered the first official glimpse of gameplay.

State of Decay 3 and More

The showcase also teased State of Decay 3 along with many other titles, rounding out a reveal-heavy presentation that gave Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players alike plenty to look forward to in the coming year.

Final Thoughts

This year’s Summer Xbox Games Showcase reinforced just how broad Xbox’s lineup is becoming — with several former exclusives now heading to PlayStation 5 as well. Between major franchise returns like Gears of War, Halo, and Fable, and intriguing entries like Persona 4 Revival and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the stretch from mid-2026 into early 2027 is shaping up to be a busy and exciting one for gamers across every platform.
