Cal Fire emphasized the seriousness of the threat, urging anyone who might need extra time to leave, along with those caring for pets and livestock, to evacuate immediately because of the potential danger to life and property.

The department said crews battled the blaze from both the ground and the air, deploying airtankers to help bring the flames under control.
