The case of an American Airlines flight attendant found dead on a South Florida beach has prompted an active investigation, with officials saying her injuries were consistent with a vessel strike.
A Tragic Discovery
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) identified the woman as 31-year-old Kellie Melinda Williams. Her body was discovered in the surf near Hollywood Beach on June 3 at approximately 8 p.m.
According to the agency, Williams’ injuries were consistent with being struck by a boat. The exact circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
How She Was Found
Authorities said two fishermen spotted Williams’ body near North Boardwalk and Thomas Street. They immediately alerted police, setting the investigation in motion.
Investigators believe Williams may have been snorkeling or diving before her death, though officials have not released additional details about what may have occurred.
Remembering Williams
Williams, originally from California, worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines. The airline expressed its grief in a statement to ABC News on Sunday:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague. Our thoughts and support are with her family, loved ones and colleagues at this time.”
What Comes Next
As of now, no further information has been released, and the investigation into the circumstances of Williams’ death continues. Authorities have not yet determined exactly how the suspected vessel strike occurred or whether any vessel involved has been identified.
This remains a developing and deeply sad story. Our thoughts are with those who knew and loved Kellie Williams as her family, friends, and colleagues navigate this difficult loss
