Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater Quietly Split After Nearly Three Years Together

The Ariana Grande Ethan Slater split has come to light, with US reports confirming that the couple ended their relationship after nearly three years together.

A Quiet, Amicable Parting

According to a source who spoke to People magazine, the couple separated quietly and amicably several months ago. The source described it as a thoughtful decision, saying the two gave a great deal of time and careful consideration before choosing to go their separate ways. Notably, they reportedly remain friends and continue to be supportive of one another.

BBC News has reached out to representatives for both Grande and Slater for comment.

How They Met

The pair first crossed paths in 2023 while filming the two-part screen adaptation of “Wicked” in the UK. Grande, 32, starred as Glinda the good witch in the “Wizard of Oz” spin-off, while Slater, 34, played Boq Woodsman, the character later transformed into the Tin Man.

After going Instagram official in 2024, the couple appeared together at promotional events for both “Wicked” and its sequel, “Wicked: For Good.” During their time together, both stars also finalized divorces from their former partners.

Grande’s Busy New Chapter

The breakup comes as Grande embarks on a significant new phase in her career. Last weekend, she kicked off her long-awaited Eternal Sunshine tour, her first since 2019. The shows arrive three years after the release of the “Eternal Sunshine” album and ahead of her forthcoming album “Petal,” which drops next month. That release has already been teased with a new single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me.”

The pop star, known for hits like “Twilight Zone” and “Side to Side,” has leaned more heavily into acting in recent years. In November, she said the tour would be her last for a “long time.”

A Pair of Accomplished Performers

Both halves of the former couple have earned considerable recognition for their work. Grande received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her role in the first “Wicked” film. Slater, along with the entire “Wicked” ensemble, was nominated for outstanding performance by a cast at the Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards. He had also previously earned a Tony nomination for his Broadway debut playing SpongeBob SquarePants.

For now, both performers appear to be moving forward on good terms, with Grande channeling her energy into a packed slate of touring and new music.
