OnePlus Resumes OxygenOS Update Rollout After Fixing Boot Issues

The latest OxygenOS update is back on track. OnePlus has confirmed that it is resuming the rollout of select OxygenOS updates that were temporarily paused after reports of boot-related problems on certain devices.

The good news for OnePlus owners is that the situation appears to have been contained before it could cause any real harm.

What Went Wrong

Last week, OnePlus announced that it was pausing two OxygenOS updates, versions 16.0.7.XXX and 16.0.5.XXX. The company explained at the time that a small number of devices were experiencing abnormal restart and boot issues.

OnePlus did not initially share what was causing the trouble. However, the way the company handled the situation suggested it was not a widespread or severe problem.

The Rollout Resumes

As of May 18, OnePlus updated its original forum post about the pause to confirm that the rollout has restarted. Both affected OxygenOS updates are once again reaching users.

In a separate forum post, the company offered more reassurance, stating that no users were actually affected by the issue. According to OnePlus, the update was paused early enough that no damage occurred before the fix was in place.

What OnePlus Said

OnePlus explained that the problem was caught internally rather than out in the wild. During routine monitoring of the rollout, its teams identified abnormal behavior in one of the builds that had not been pushed externally to users. As a precaution, the company proactively paused the rollout while it carried out a full investigation and validation process, citing how seriously it takes device stability and user experience.

After extensive verification, OnePlus confirmed there was no external user impact. The company added that anyone who had already updated could continue using their device normally and with confidence.

Why This Is a Positive Outcome

While a paused update is never ideal, this situation actually reflects a system working as intended.

Catching a potential problem during internal monitoring, before it reaches a wide audience, is the best possible scenario. It means the issue was identified and resolved without leaving users to deal with malfunctioning phones. OnePlus deserves credit for acting quickly and transparently rather than letting a flawed build spread.

The Bottom Line

The latest OxygenOS updates are now rolling out again, and OnePlus has confirmed that affected devices were never at risk. If you own a OnePlus phone, you can expect to receive versions 16.0.7.XXX or 16.0.5.XXX in the near future, and you can install them with confidence knowing the boot issue has been fully addressed.
